Review of the DP2400

Latest news – Motorola seem that they are getting out two way radios like they’re candy nowadays, the digital revolution has really provided Motorola a new market and they really are, as usual, pushing the boundaries of this radio market. This latest radio the DP2400, is full fat digital and having used it for the few weeks it’s very related size to numerous other of the current walkie talkies, but with a new connection variety. The form is similar to other existing walkie talkies, but we deem the purchase price will make a huge diversity to small firms and individuals, anyway here’s a extremely rare review of the two way radio.

A 2 way radio has to be able to work promptly and effectively. It has to be simple to use, robustly made and multi-faceted enough to appeal to a variety of people. Luckily, Motorola are very excellent at fulfilling these criteria. So, with that at heart, we put the Dp2400 through its paces.

THE SPECS

The clarity of digital audio is undeniable. But when you still prefer analogue, then do not despair. The Dp2400 is totally comfortable handling both analogue and digital frequencies.

But there’s a lot more it can do besides that.

The Dp2400 can even use its ‘IP Site Connect’ function to expand the capability of the device via the Internet. Furthermore, the ‘capacity plus’ function can use just one-site trunking system to enable over a thousand voice or data transfer-users devoid of adding any new frequencies. It could even use an (optional) ‘linked capacity plus’ feature (a multi-site version of the ‘capacity plus’ function) that works in tandem using the IP functionality to make sure even broader fields of communication over greater areas.

There’s even an enhanced security function.

The Motorola Dp2400 is available in both VHF and UHF types.

THE PRICE

It is a reasonable, yet high spec, device. Considering the release of that Motorola dp3400, we are able to reasonably expect the price to drop a bit more as well soon, but probably not by an incredible amount, as both models do seems to focus on slightly different areas.

Overall, it does seem like Motorola are offering an excellent radio-based product for your hard earned money, yet again.

THE PERFORMANCE

The look is hardy and functional; this would be the sort of 2 way radio a security guard or professional soldier might use. Its tough, rectangle edged and no-nonsense, but it still looks contemporary and specialist. On top of this, the Motorola dp2400’s easy use makes the simplicity of that design a perfect marriage of model and operation.

Like the vast majority of Motorola’s designs, the Dp2400 is a tough little doohickey. The bodywork is so tightly sealed, in reality, that it is almost completely dust and sand proof and includes a water protection rating of IP55 (that means you can use it in the rain, but you probably can’t take it swimming).

The audio performance of the Motorola dp2400 is nothing short of spectacular. It even adjusts the levels to compensate for background noise automatically, much like the iphone.

In reality, so high performance is this two way radio, that it essentially meets US military standard 810 C D E F and G.

Really the only negative we could find was that the look was somewhat bulky plus the battery was slightly heavy, however, the battery life is so good that we really don’t mind. Besides, it’s reassuring to be absolutely sure that you just aren’t going to lose the radio (you’d soon notice in case you dropped it).

As an optional extra, you can even get a function that may interrupt an existing signal so they can deliver vital information without waiting for a communication terminate.

THE VERDICT

It actually does seem as if Motorola have considered everything for this radio. What we’ve got here is a 2 way radio that is pretty close to perfection. It seems to do everything you could probably want it to and, when ‘pimped out’ with all the optional extras, it will surely do a lot more in addition.

There are not really any downsides with this 2 way radio, it works particularly well, is pretty much top of the line in its price range and is bang up to date technologically. What more can you ask for?
